The Little One's Thoughts

The name's Geovanny. I am studying fashion design at one of the local colleges in the area.

Comme des Garcons FW 2009 RTW:

There are many things that I love about this collection.  The tulle, the ethnic prints, the trompe l’oeil suggesting the lines of outwear or toes on shoes, the masked faces of the models.  There is a message here and I can’t quite grasp it, but there is this undeniable air of mystery and intrigue that makes up for it.

Gemma Kahng RTW Spring/Summer 2012:  Parisian circus.  I am in love with this entire collection.  Gemma utilizes two colours (black and “white”) and a ton of lace to bring this collection to life.  The lace lends an air of femininity and grace, whilst the colour palette makes it edgy and modern.

V.A.C.K. ‘Lumber Prep’ cardigan jacket:

I wanted to create a jacket that had the feeling of a cardigan, whilst having structural elements of a jacket.  Since I was using wool and this brown suiting fabric that had a bit of stretch, I thought the juxtaposition of the red satin would be a nice touch.  Originally, I was going to do the bulk of the jacket in the wool, with the sleeves in fur, but I didn’t have sufficient fur for it.

Alexander McQueen Pre-Fall 2012:  This is McQueen but slightly toned down.  I LOVED each piece — even the dresses that seem to be variations on themselves (Dresses 2, 4 and 8 in the actual slideshow).  I LOVED the interjection of menswear in here (by far my favorite looks are the menswear inspired pieces) and the gown no. 21 (the last one in this grouping) is STUNNING.  The words ethereal, otherworldly and goddess-like come to mind.  Again another successful show by Burton.

Rachel Zoe Pre-Fall 2012:  Out of the 5 collections that she has shown through the last two years, this is my favorite one.  Zoe was a stylist and you can tell that by looking at her collections.  This one is no different.  She’s not worried about creating unique things — no, she is referencing the things that she loves and there isn’t anything particularly wrong with that.

I love the graphicness of this collection and the tailoring is beautiful. I love how she pairs gowns with blazers and jackets. Overall a beautiful collection.
