#ART: “FASHION FONT” BY YVETTE YANG

Paris-based korean designer, Yvette Yang, composes collage elements found from the constantly morphing fashion world and turns them into the alphabet.

She then repeats the collage project, called “Fashion Font”, twice a year for each new fashion season. It’s fun to see if you can pick out the trends from the latest season! More after the jump:

I think this is really cool, albeit a little creepy, but still very cool.

Cutsy elegance!I love the touch of playfulness that the hat adds, but I am living for that fur coat and sweater dress combo.  And the red belt is pretty genius, it adds a needed pop of colour.

Fit, cut and colour are key points to take into account.

Do you want something that speaks to you in its fit? Then go with the first look.

Want something much more quirky and full of whim? Go with something similar to the second look.

Want something much classic in the overall fit and cut, but that speaks volumes in the colour? Then go with the third look.

And last tip, don’t go crazy and spend tons of $$$ when you don’t have to.  Go thrifting.  .

3.1 Phillip Lim
Fall 2013 RTW

Bikers’ girlfriends.  That was the theme of Phillip Lim’s Fall 2013 show.  Lots of leather, patched denim and a sense of polish to the roughness was the name of the game.

Personally, I’m in love with the long textured leather coat (it looks like a quilted jacket). It gets repeated several times and why not? It’s a gorgeous piece in a otherwise gorgeously executed collection (the only missteps for me are the 80’s ‘power bitch’ suit and dress combo towards the end of the collection).

Great job Mr. Lim!

LOVE this song.

Alexander McQueen
Fall 2013
RTW

This is the closest that Sarah Burton has gotten to channeling Lee McQueen perfectly.

This is something that McQueen would have designed, yet it still has Burton’s flair and feel.  And can I just say, the handwork that went into each of these 10 looks is INSANE!

And can I just say something?  This isn’t RTW.  Not at all. But I would be interested to see elements from this collection rethought and implemented into more wearable things.

Burton, pllleeeeasssseee make that happen.

Sazh and Vanille vs Brynhildr

Possibly the most dramatic and emotional moment in Final Fantasy history. A father who is on the verge of giving up and girl who feels guilty for her actions + the most fitting music for the scene = a cry feast.

I had to fight this boss 4 times and all 4 times that this cinematic played, I was crying.  Like full on tears streaming down my face.

What makes this scene so impactful?  It’s the dialog that Vanille has with herself.  Sazh’s outburst and the look on Sazh’s face when he gives up.  Add the music and you have a very poignant moment between two characters.
